Provincial Nominee Program – Saskatchewan

The Saskatchewan Immigration Nominee Program (SINP) allows Saskatchewan to nominate applicants, whose skills and abilities best fit the province’s needs, to the CIC for immigration to Canada. The program’s application processing times are usually quicker than that of federal immigration programs. Applicants who are nominated by the Province of Saskatchewan will receive a Saskatchewan Provincial Nomination Certificate, which as mentioned before will speed-up their Canada immigration application processing time.
The SINP has eight categories and there are specific criteria for each category:

SINP - Skilled Workers
Skilled workers, professionals, or managers may be eligible to apply under this category if they have a permanent full-time job offer from a Saskatchewan employer or they have already worked in Saskatchewan for at least six months on a temporary work permit. Refugee claimants are not eligible to apply and applicants who are not outside of Canada must have a legal status in Canada to be able to apply under this category.
Note that the employment arrangement that is provided by a Saskatchewan employer must be in an occupation or trade defined as Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations), Skill Level A (professional occupations that usually require university education) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades that usually require college education or skilled apprentices) in the NOC.

SINP - Family Members
Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada who have been living in Saskatchewan for at least one year may qualify to sponsor their family members to join them in Canada. Sponsor must provide support to applicants and their dependents, which may include settlement assistance or financial support. He/she must be financially self-supporting (have not received financial support through the Saskatchewan Assistance Plan, Employment Insurance, or the Resettlement Assistance Program within the last six months)
To be eligible to apply under the SINP - Family Members Category, the applicants must:
Be between 18 – 49 years old.

  • Have sufficient English language skills to be able to do the offered job or to get a job in their field of education or training.
Note that this category is not for spouses or common-law partners and they need to apply under the CIC Family Class. Moreover, refugee claimants in Canada claiming refugee status from the government of Canada are not eligible under the SINP - Family Members category.

Regina (often called “the Queen City”) is the capital city of Saskatchewan and with a population of around 200,000 is the second largest city in the province (after Saskatoon with 240,000 inhabitants).

Saskatchewan’s economy is traditionally dependent on agriculture and 45% of Canada's grain grows in Saskatchewan. Fishing, forestry, mining (Saskatchewan is the world leader in potash and uranium exports), finance and insurance, education, healthcare and social services have also significant role in the province’s economy.

Regina, the capital, is a pleasant city and an important commercial and cultural centre with a rich cultural life in music and theatre. Regina’s climate is dry with long, cold winters and warm summers.

Saskatoon, the province’s largest city, is one of the world’s prime agricultural biotechnology centres. Potash and uranium-related industries are also important to the city’s economy, as are food processing and IT. Saskatoon is fairly dry and has warm summers and very cold winters.
